This week’s post is going to be a little bit different. This time, I’m going to talk about how I pass the time every day during this quarantine, and the things that I didn’t realize I would like and why.
For beginners, I started to run. Since my surgery last September, I haven’t run. I considered myself to be in semi-decent shape, but then when I had my arm in a brace for 2 and a half months, I wasn’t cleared to run. I couldn’t even walk comfortably, so I just sat around and didn’t do anything. Getting back into my rehab throwing program, part of it is to run. And let me tell you, it is just as bad as I remember it being. However, my perspective of it changed because of all that’s going on. I’m lucky enough to have the ability to get out of my bed every day and go run, whereas a lot of people right now aren’t that lucky. While running still sucks for me, I think of it as a “get to” not a “have to” and I encourage all of you to do the same.

Next, I started actually hanging out with my family again. When school was moved to all online, I was sent home to live again for the remainder of the semester. I honestly wasn’t looking forward to it because I haven’t lived at home for nearly 2 and a half full years. I didn’t know what to expect again because I had been on my own for so long. But when I got here it was like I had never left. I already had a really good relationship with my parents but moving back in made it more like I was best friends with them again and I didn’t know how much I actually missed that, and how thankful I am for that.

Last thing is kind of a dumb one, but I picked up reading. I usually can’t stand the thought of picking up a book and reading because I have such a short attention span. However, my girlfriend said it would be a good thing to try, and low and behold here I find myself staying up way later than I should, reading. The moral of that one is don’t knock it until you try it.
The point of this is, even in quarantine life is precious, you just have to look at it that way.
